The School of Nursing Sciences was established as an independent School of the University of Zambia on 1st January 2017 following the Division of the former School of Medicine. Previously, school of Nursing Sciences was a Department within the school of Medicine known as the “Department of Nursing Sciences” the name it acquired in May 2009. Prior to the name the department was called the Department of Post Basic Nursing.

  Important Application Information

    Requirements for Bachelor of Science in Nursing – Blended Programme
  • 1. Certified copy of Diploma in Registered Nursing or Diploma in Registered Midwifery or equivalent for international students
  • 2. Valid practicing license as a nurse
  • 3. Certified copy of NRC or pass port for international students
  • 4. Verified copy/ copies of Grade 12 School certificate, GCE or equivalent with passes at 6 or better in the following 5 subjects:
  •     a. English
  •     b. Mathematics
  •     c. Any Science subject (Biology, Science, Chemistry, Physics, Agriculture Science)
  •     d. Any other 2 subjects
    Requirements for Diploma in Nursing and Diploma in Midwifery Programmes
  •   1. Certified copy of NRC or pass port for international students
  •   2. Verified copy/ copies of Grade 12 School certificate, GCE or equivalent with passes at 6 or better in the following 5 subjects:
  •     a. English

    How to Apply
  • 1. Read the Admission Requirements:

      a. Carefully review the admission requirements for your chosen program to ensure you meet all criteria.

  • 2. Fill Out the Application Form:

      a. Complete the online application form with accurate and up-to-date information, including personal details, academic qualifications, and program preferences.

  • 3. Upload Required Documents:

      a. Scan the following documents:

    •     i. Certified copies of your academic and professional certificates and transcripts in PDF format (minimize file size).
    •     ii. A photo of your National Registration Card (NRC) or passport.

      b. Upload all scanned documents.

  • 4. Submit the Application:

      a. Review all provided information to ensure accuracy. Once satisfied, submit your application.

      b. Upon submission, you’ll receive a confirmation email or portal notification, which includes your reference (application) number.

      c. Keep your reference number for future inquiries.

      d. Download the bill master for payment.

  • 5. Pay the Application Fee:

      a. Fee: K150.00 for local applicants, or US $60.00 for international students.

      b. Payment details and methods are provided on the application portal. Methods include bank deposits using the bill master (use code 6196), mobile money, or online payment systems. The bill master is preferred.

      c. After payment, log in to upload proof of payment (e.g., a photo of your deposit slip) using your reference number as both the username and password.

  • 6. Check Application Status:

      a. Log in periodically to track your application status. UNZA may also send updates via email or SMS.
